Buffalo Man will be attending the Auckland Stallion Parade on the 5th of September, so make sure you get there and see this exciting young sire for yourself.
The parade will start at Haunui Farm at 10.30am. Sirocco and Buffalo Man will be seen at Karaka Sales Complex at 11.30am. Te Runga at 12.15pm and finally Westbury Stud at 1.00pm with light refreshments to conclude. Please note that the Newmarket Viaduct will be closed on this day so make sure you are prepared for long delays or plan an alternative route.

Paddy O'Prado (by El Prado) has just won his third consecutive graded stakes race by taking out the G1 Secretariat Stakes. This race was won by another El Prado son, Kitten's Joy, in 2004.

AUGUST WINNERS
SHAHLA (Rusty Spur - Silk Purse) won her first race at Whangarei on Wednesday the 25th of August, taking out the Buffalo Man @ Totara Park 1200, a race sponsored by the very stud where she was born and raised. A better start to her racing career could not be found, as she jumped from the gates and took the lead early to hold first all the way, cantering across the finish line 4 lengths in front of her nearest rival. RUSTY DEVIL (Rusty Spur - Devil Inside) had yet another win at Ellerslie on the 21st of August. He ran last until the home turn where he ran around the outside of all the other horses to pick up the lead at the 250m then ran on to win by four and a half lengths. Watch the race here.
OLIVINE (Rusty Spur - Tennesciti Belle) ran 2nd in the Barneswood Farm Agistment Handicap on the 22nd of August at Ashburton. The heaviest weight in the field, she led the race from the start. The lead was taken from her at the 200m. She ran on to hold second place. Watch the race here.
HELIOS (Drama Critic - Susan Charmain) ran 3rd in his first start on Wednesday 18th August at Rotorua. He ran a good race for a first start, sticking with the leaders and putting many lengths between him and the fourth horse. Watch it here.
GUT FEEL (Rusty Spur - Vain Ana) ran 3rd in a $65,000 weight-for-age race in Singapore on the 15th of August. He sat around 5th for the first part of the race, then took the lead at the 800m. He kicked on at the 300m to be run down only 20m from the post. A fantastic effort. Watch it here.
ARONSAY (Drama Critic - Coup de Folie) continued his winning form, taking out the Avon City Ford Premier 1800m by five lengths on the 14th of August at Canterbury. He ran 7th during the race, took the lead at the turn and kicked home on a heavy track. Watch the video here.
GIDDA BOY (Rusty Spur - Susan Charmain) had a win in Singapore on Sunday 8th of August. He was 5th at the 400m and ran home over 1200m to win by half a length. There seems to be a problem with the video on this one, so if I find it, I will post it here.

JULY WINNERS
ACE HIGH (see below) had another run at Ruakaka on the 24th of July, the Project Promise fundraising raceday. Tucked behind the leader on the rail, he struggled to get out of the pack on the turn, having to go four wide to get a run. He came home for second in a photo. Watch the video here.
GIDDA BOY (Rusty Spur - Susan Charmain) ran second in Singapore on the 23rd of July. He busted out of the gates and took the lead right from the start. Leading most of the way, he was too fast for all but one of the challengers, who took the race from him 50m out from the post. Watch the video here.
ARONSAY (Drama Critic - Coup de Folie) has now strung together two wins in a row after winning the Johnson Gluyas Tractors Stayers 2100m at Timaru on the 18th of July. He ran a handy race, sitting second/third most of the way. He went with the lead horse at the turn, challenging for the lead at the 200m but was repelled. Aronsay then proved he could fight for the win, taking the race at the post by half a length. Watch this battling win here.
ACE HIGH (Drama Critic - Straight Ace) took out the Reyburn and Bryant 1600 at Ruakaka on the 17th of July. He ran 5th for most of the race and had to really fight for a gap off the turn, but once he got some space he ran home easily to win by a length a the post. Congratulations to the Logan/Gibbs stable for getting the quinella in this race. Watch the race here.
REDHOT RUSTY (Rusty Spur - Celestar) picked up 2nd place at Waverley on the 15th of July. He settled nicely at the back for most of the race, then made his move down the straight to be just a fraction late at the post. Watch the video here.
STAGEHAND (Drama Critic - Nita's Dream) picked up his first win in at Te Rapa on the 7th of July. In a race described by the commentator as a 'stock car demolition derby', this 3yr old gelding took the lead at the 150m mark and battled on to stay in front until the finish. Watch the race here.
OLIVINE (Rusty Spur - Tennesciti Belle) has never been out of the money in her 9 starts, picking up a second in the Hennessy Handicap at Waimate on the 4th of July. She trailed during the race, she challenged and won the lead at the 400m, until being tackled at the 150m to fight on for second. Watch this race here.
ARONSAY (Drama Critic - Coup de Folie) took out a win at Waimate in the PGG Wrightson 1800. He was back on the inside and ran home for a fast finish. Watch the race here.
JUNE WINNERS
APACHE JUNCTION ran a fantastic 2nd in Singapore on the 26th of June. This 4yo gelding by Rusty Spur out of There We Go drew the outside barrier and ran second last all the way before kicking on at the 300m, then turning on the afterburners at the 200m to pass the rest of the field and storm home to be second by half a length. HIGH DRAMA couldn't quite complete the fairytale in the Bob Tait Memorial Cup at Ruakaka on the 23rd of June. He ran second in the race honouring his breeder, Bob Tait. True to form, he came down the outside in the straight, but ran out of ground to catch the winning horse. Watch the race here.
DESTINY'S CHILD (Rusty Spur - Sister Sam) has brought his earnings up over HK$1,000,000, after running 2nd in Hong Kong on the 20th of June. Another Totara Park international success story, Destiny's Child is from a long time Totara Park family, which includes Vain Ana and goes back to Tusitala, dam of Uncle Remus. RUSTY DEVIL (Rusty Spur - Devil Inside) followed up his win earlier in the month with a 2nd placing at Ellerslie on the 19th of June after leading to the 600m and fighting gamely to the finish. Watch the race here.
REDHOT RUSTY (Rusty Spur - Celestar) ran 2nd at Taranaki on the 17th of June. He was 7th outer during the race, wider at the 600m running into the lead at the 250m and fought on well for his placing. Watch the race here.
GOMICKEY (Drama Critic - Goewin) followed up his last start win witha third placing at Te Rapa on the 12th of June. He led up the outside to the 300m and stuck well on a heavy track for third. Watch the race here.
HIGH DRAMA (Drama Critic - Glen Carron) followed up his win on 26th May with a very pleasing 2nd placing at Te Rapa on the 12th of June. He was 5th outside during the race and came out wider at the turn looking for some better footing on the outside of the track where he ran home strongly on a heavy track to take second. MAY WINNERS
May 26th at Ruakaka was a day for Drama Critic with 2 winners from 2 runners.
HIGH DRAMA (Drama Critic - Glen Carron) had an impressive win in the Waipu Hotel 2100, bringing his total to 2 wins and 5 placings from 12 starts. HIGH DRAMA was bred by the late Bob Tait and is trained by Ben Foote. Log in to NZ Racing and watch the race here.
GOMICKEY (Drama Critic - Goewin) wrapped up his first win by taking out the Majestic Horse Floats 1400. GOMICKEY is owned by Michael Springford and Ross Dudley, trained by Shaun Clotworthy. Watch the race here.
May 19th at Matamata saw PAUANUI run in third after a very gallant run. She ran in front from the gates all the way to the last 100m. She has shown real talent in the last month to score placings from any part of the field. Seems she is just finding her racing legs and we look forward to seeing her improve in the coming months. In his first Group 1 race, the Singapore Guineas on May 14th, TOTARA stepped right up and scored a 6th place run. This horse is looking big and strong, he really seems to be enjoying his racing. His owner tells us he is going to be a champion and we agree! Watch the Singapore Guineas here.
Two days into May and there had already been winner for Totara Park when TOTARA won again in Singapore. He ran third from the gates and was strong all the way before being unleashed at the turn to win easily. This adds to his outstanding record, having had 8 starts for 3 wins and 4 placings.
